We wanted to share our pictures with you as we have some budding artists in our midst!

Our winner in the 6-10 Yr Old category was Skye; Whilst our winner in the 0-5 Yr Old category was Ruby. Please see pictures in that order.

Well done Ruby and Skye and we look forward to seeing you for Sunday lunch!

We're proud to sponsor the St Ives September Festival

Tregenna Castle Hotel is once again sponsoring the St Ives September Festival. The popular arts festival is to take place from 10th to 24th September and will feature art, music, film, drama, literature, comedy and dance events running throughout the fortnight.

This year’s big musical attractions include performances by Seth Lakeman, Adrian Edmondson with his band the Bad Shepherds and Barbara Dickson with Sean Taylor.

Sheila Barker, General Manager of Tregenna Castle Hotel, is happy to support the event for another year:

“Tregenna Castle Hotel is pleased to support the St Ives September Festival because it is such an important fixture on the town’s calendar. Locals and visitors alike love this celebration of the arts and it remains a real favourite for all. As one of the town’s largest employers, it is especially important for Tregenna to support this community event.”

Festival Committee member Allen Greenall is delighted that Tregenna is once again sponsoring the festival.

“The festival is growing every year and relies on support from local businesses like Tregenna Castle Hotel to make it bigger and better. There is an enormous range of events throughout the fortnight and we’re expecting a record number of visitors this year.”

The opening day will see a carnival style atmosphere throughout the coastal town as dancers, musicians, shanty singers and entertainers perform in the pubs and streets.

There will also be a record breaking attempt in St Ives bay. Two years ago the bay saw the largest collection of luggers since the First World War and the record could well be broken this year.

In addition to performances, the festival features a vast variety of interesting events over the fortnight such as workshops, open studios, exhibitions, walks and talks.

The whole events listing can be found at www.stivesseptemberfestival.co.uk and there are still tickets available.

For more information on the accommodation available at Tregenna Castle Hotel throughout the festival please contact us.

Fun for Free at Tregenna Castle

Tregenna Castle Hotel is offering locals a mass of free fun this year, from falconry displays to woodland walks.

A series of dazzling flying displays by owls, falcons and hawks is taking place in ourbeautiful grounds and entry to all of them is free. The free flying demonstrations show a range of different birds of prey and their different flying techniques while the static display offers the opportunity to get close to the birds.

The falconry sessions begin on the 13 April and then run on 20 April, 1 June and another six days in July and August. Each begins at 6pm and finishes around 7.30pm. Julian Clement of Countryside Hawking is giving the demonstrations. He loves showing his birds of prey at Tregenna Castle: “Because Tregenna offers such a private location, we can offer the best close encounter handling sessions. Member of the audience can actually put the glove on and have the birds fly to them – you can’t get closer to a bird of prey than this!”

Set in a magnificent 72 acre estate, Tregenna is also encouraging locals to explore its fantastic woodlands. The ravine walk was recently featured on Inside Out and it has some stunning flora and fauna as well as a waterfall. General Manager Sheila Barker encourages the general public to visit the hotel: “Tregenna’s estate is quite magnificent and we are really keen for locals to enjoy it, that’s why the falconry displays and the walks are free." She continues, “The nature trail was originally created in the 1920s and has been painstakingly brought back to life by the hotel’s grounds team. In addition, we have recently been working with the RSPB and have installed over 40 bird boxes. Some of these are at eye level so that children can see the nests for themselves."

With its stunning views of St Ives and the glorious coastline of St Ives Bay, Tregenna has a multitude of spots perfect for picnics, enabling local families to enjoy a whole day out. All of the hotel’s facilities are available for non-residents as well as guests throughout the year. This includes the Brasserie where a well earned hot chocolate can replenish calories burnt off by walking in the woodland.

It will soon be even easier for local people to access Tregenna Castle with the arrival of the new shuttle bus travelling to and from the centre of St Ives twice a day.

Busy phones!

The back office have had a busy few days thanks to a successful Travel Zoo promotion went out on Wednesday. A very special offer of £99 for two nights B&B for two people January through to March has kept the phones red hot. Indeed the credit card machine has been pushed to the limit taking deposits and on Thursday it was rumoured that Neal the accountant had been seen smiling.

The reception and reservations team deserve a big pat on the back making sure no calls were lost and those who have some time off this Christmas will deserve the chance to put their feet up.

The pool is open and the weather is... mild!

A couple more photos for you to have a look at.
The first shows our indoor pool which happily is open again after a refurbishment. As you can see it's looking good and I'm assured that the water is lovely and warm now after taking a few days to get to temperature. Thanks to Ash the all action gym assistant for volunteering to be our model; to be honest when we had the photographer in it became quite clear that Ash liked having his photo taken!
The second picture is of one of the self catering lodges we have on site. Looks good; but I've actually posted it to show you how nice the weather is in Cornwall at the moment.
